Haha, good catch!  I've been so used to writing "Thomas is amazing" on my Facebook, Twitter, etc...it's muscle memory at this point.

No no, I'm not saying you were ripping it apart...my point was more to the fact that if the Bruins do something BIG, (i.e. Parise, Stamkos, etc) those are options you have in terms of AHL guys that could fill a need (offensively capable defenseman).

I admit, at the time of the trade, I loved the deal.  At least to me, Colburn doesn't seem like an impact player, even less so with Boston being so deep at his position.  You probably saw more of him than I did though.  But he had about 21 points in 53 games with Providence (I think he had a single 5 point game which I'm discluding)...as what, the #15 pick in the draft?

thats what scares me, this kid has the ability to put up 5 point games. not saying he'll be anything special, but to have the ability to put up 5 points as a kid is both impressive and telling. Ive read that the Leafs wanted Jared Knight (he and Nazim Kadri lit it up in London together) but the Bruins were unwilling to unload Knight for Kaberle so Toronto came back and asked for Colbourne.

Too bad we couldnt have just sent Zach Hamill- a swing.........and a giant miss.

I agree matty, Hammil is a big miss.I think he will be moved at some point this year in a minor deal. Knight is a guy they need to hold onto, I think he is going to be a solid player. I am excited about the players the Bruins landed in that Kessel trade.

Benoit Pouliot, I like em. He's  like Wheeler but he's got an edge to em.  He took on Kercji but didnt hit krecji when he was down unlike the other hab punks.

With Babchuck staying with the Flames it looks more and more like the Bruins will over pay for Kraperle. I would rather go with one of the young guys like Kampfer or someone else from Providence. I am not to big on bringing in Mcabe since he is even older than Krappy. I guess I will just hope for the best.

I'm with you ICE...Fingers crossed that the Bruins do not Sign KAberlee. I thought he found his way a bit in the Finals....however...in my mind....he is not worth over 4 mil, and I would not want the Bruins to commit to him for more than 2 years.....and there is no way any team is getting him for 2 years or under.

I would rather the Bruins wait and see what is going to happean with Savard before they make the next step forward with making big commitments!

Joe Corvo for a 4th is a great pick-up.  Congrats, you just added another good defenseman that Ottawa couldn't keep!  (Had to throw that in just for sensarmy.)

I'm glad that the Bruins did not resign Kaberle, but I'm a bit bummed that they lost Ryder.  I thought he had some huge plays for us in the playoffs, and did really well against Montreal.  What's with Pouliot?  The wires say has potential but an underachiever?

Best part about getting Corvo is that he won't be too proud to sit in the press box in order to get Kampfor some ice time.  Good luck getting Kaberle up there.

i dont see Corvo sitting ever, unless he's hurt....the guy played all 82 games last year.....solid vet, and SHOULD help the PP.

He's good enough to possibly slide into the 3-4-5 hole as far as our Dman ranking go.  However, if he doesn't, for whatever reason, he seems like the type of guy Julien could send up to the press box every now and then without it causing a big stir.

I guess I was looking at it from the perspective of getting Kampfor into the lineup.  Someone will have to sit to do so.  McQuiad is a possible canidate but thought he earned his spot over the course of the playoffs.  I just couldn't picture Kaberle sitting without causing a big camotion so when we got Corvo thats where my mind went first.

thats a good way to put it andy, i feel the same way. we have some very solid/ good defenseman that will have to compete for minutes. A guy like Corvo is a vet and understands that he has to earn those minutes or he'll sit. Only 1 year left on his deal is incentive enough also. I want Kampfer in the lineup and getting quality pp time too.

just read this from hockey futures, makes me feel better about our 2nd round pick. Bruins dont typically draft Russians very well, Samsanov and Kvartalnov(questionable) maybe the only good ones that theyve drafted and produced at all.

Alexander Khokhlachev, C/LW - Windsor Spitfires (OHL)
2nd round, 40th overall
Height: 5'10 Weight: 188 lbs

With the tenth pick in the second round, the Bruins received another gift, drafting a potential high-end forward in Russian Alexander Khokhlachev. This first year OHLer was certainly a victim of the so-called Russian Factor where, where despite being ranked high by most major outlets, he fell all the way to the Bruins at 40. The Bruins however, believe any fear of signing him to be unfounded. Koko, as he is widely referred to, was a celebrity in Russia who left to train in the CHL because it was a faster track to the NHL. He has a great work ethic and says he can't wait to get to the rink for practices and workouts. He came here without a word of English, yet by the end of the year, could handle himself comfortably in interviews. And he adapted on the ice just as quickly, learning to play a more North American game along the walls and in the dirty areas of the ice, showing both courage and compete level. But that's not to say he doesn't have those trademark Russian skills that make them one of the World's hockey powers. His skills are undeniable. He's a strong skater, quick and shifty, elusive in tight spaces and deadly in open ice. He has soft hands and good vision. In those ways, Benning compared his style to a younger Scott Gomez, but with better finish and more of a willingness to be the shooter. Khokhlachev scored 34 goals and 76 points in 67 games, and was among the top rookies in playoff scoring, recording nine goals and 20 points in 18 games, so the balance between his passing and finishing is evident in his stat line.

Had Khokhlachev been born six days later, he would not have been eligible for the 2011 draft, meaning he was one of the youngest players in the draft. That should speak volumes considering how highly regarded he was in a draft where he was almost a year younger than many of his peers.
