Here's some tape of the OG  recruit from furman...  Ryan Lee..   Couple of things..  He needs to keep his feet moving more when he is engaged for pass blocking..   Watch how long he stays on his blocks and finishes...  I guarentee some scuffles at training camp with this kid holding blocks so long..  Got to love it..  an UFA that I'm already real excited about.  I was not going to go up to Training camp this year But I think I'll go up on the first monday practice again....

Kid plays alot of LG in the video - but plays RG and RT too....

enjoy,

It says Terrance Fredricks is slow and doesn't have the speed to play man but this is what he ran at his pro day: A&M's other starting cornerback, Terrence Frederick, also helped himself by shaving nearly a tenth off of the 40-yard dash time he'd posted in Indianapolis. Frederick had been clocked at 4.54 seconds at the Combine but registered times between 4.42-4.46 seconds on Wednesday.

Another pro day of a UDFA we picked up. Southern Connecticut defensive lineman Ikponmwosa Igbinosun, known simply as Ike, wowed scouts during his workout. Measuring 6-3½ and 288, he posted a vertical jump of 38 inches, a 40 time of 4.94 and three-cone mark of 7.06. Igbinosun has a versatile game as both a run stopper (58 tackles last season) and pass rusher (12 tackles for loss and seven sacks). This is what I said after posting this originally: Pencil this guy in (Ikponmwosa Igbinosun), it's been awhile since we drafted a player whose name we couldn't pronounce.

If you note, his grades are a combination of Value and Need. Not many teams got As on that basis. He was pretty fair to you overall.
Prag, I actually was stuck watching and he did give the Steelers credit. But he gave them a B+ for need and B- for value so the grade was a B. I just don't get how value could be any less than a B+. I'd say their value was actually better than need.

2012 NFL Draft Grade: <span style="color: red;">A+

Goals Entering the 2012 NFL Draft: The Steelers don't have many needs, so they can afford to take the best player available - something that they usually do anyway.

2012 NFL Draft Accomplishments: And so they did. It's unbelievable that Pittsburgh was able to walk away with David DeCastro without trading up from the No. 24 pick. The Steelers will probably have the best guard in the NFL over the next decade. It's amazing how the rich always get richer in the NFL.

Mike Adams and Alameda Ta'amu were also steals who filled needs. All of Pittsburgh's late-round selections were decent, especially Chris Rainey, who will offer the type of game-breaking ability out of the backfield that the Steelers haven't had since Willie Parker. The only pick I'd question is Sean Spence because I don't know how he'll fit into the 3-4. Kevin Colbert is one of the top general managers in the NFL though, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Pittsburgh had the best draft class this April. The team addressed multiple holes with the best players available. A+.

RE: Also really like getting Maze.

I agree. Nobody really knows how good this little WR can be. He had a young so so QB in (AJ McCarron  and Trent Richardson as the featured offensive player in a run first, play great defense type team ( Sounds a bit familiar).  Unfortunately for Maze, the Steelers already drafted C.Rainey so making the team as a return guy is that much harder. Hopefully he can at least  make the PS.

Yeah he does play to the whistle BB, will be nice seeing him get the oppertunity to compete at camp. I thought the LG number 64 looked good also don't know his name tho.

Jonathan Scott is as good as gone, he just doesnt justify 2million this year. We now have quality depth on the line and if colon goes down we have Adams to go straight in. I'd even bring in starks when he's healthy, he will be cheaper than scott and a better player.

On another note I am really looking forward to seeing what the offence can do this year. We have addressed the line and have some serious weapons for Ben to utilise, wether he does or not is anyones guess tho. I've been a Steelers fan since the year before Ben was drafted and we had a good line, but at that time I knew squat about football and took the line for granted. It would be nice to see the steelers put points on the board by running over teams and dominating the line of scrimmage as well as passing through them, balance on offence will be key for us this year.

You are absolutely right BBM.  It's been some time (Bettis days) since we could rely on the offense to push points on the board on a consistant basis.  Life is so much better when running ... more predictable, more playing time off the clock ... control of the other offense by them not being on the field ... you're right, and this 2012 draft could be very special for many years to come.

By the by, look for a lot of love from the old man, bb...  and why not, ... he's right, as usual ... running is the secret to long term success.  I just think he loves hearing it from more corners than just his own !!! Laughing ... justifiably !

Feel bad for Mendenhall ... he has to be thinking hiw much he'd like to be the featurea back behind this potential new oline.

I actually liked the fact the Steelers trded up for Ta'amu.  He filled a need that they didn't address in earlier rounds, and could be Casey's replacement.  Nice to get that much quality that late.  Also interested to see what what Clemons can do.  A big man with speed.  If he is on the PS, hopefully they don't lose him.

I have to defend the Spence pick a little bit. First of all, he was an OLB at Miami that was utilized inside and outside and could COVER. The biggest knock on him is that he gets eaten up by blockers in the middle which was the same knock on Timmons. Hightower is a player that is good up the middle but lacks coverage skills, making him a two down player who is a liability with passing teams. Spence has the quickness to run with a slot receiver and play close to a tight end. The reality is that he could bulk up and still have that quickness, making him a Timmons clone, or he could slim down a little and play safety. I can see them using him inside, but nothing is impossible.

Also, living in Indianapolis, I have seen many people attack the Colts organization for not grabbing a bunch of players to fit the 3-4. The GM said "we had a lot of players we liked, but didn't want to reach for position when we had other guys that we knew could contribute early. We had a lot of holes and are transitioning into a new defense with a new franchise quarterback. You can only fix so much, but you don't do that by reaching for players." Looks like the whole BPA is finally catching on...although the GM did come from Baltimore along with Chuck Pagano and we all know Ozzie is a damn good talent evaluator.

Thanks for the post on Spence, indiana.  The Steelers certainly expected to go with Hightower, but plans changed when the best guard in the draft dropped to them.  Don't know that much about Spence.  HC and GM both said he has played both inside and outside.  Likely to be a special teamer to start.  I feel Steelers are in good shape at ILB, and just needed to add depth.

The more video i watch of Spence the more i like him, Clemons could be a very good if given an opportunity, pretty good hands and looked solid in jump ball situations, Rainey is a missed tackle away from a TD as is Clemons for that matter, when motivated Adams looked solid and despite his rep for not being tenacious some video i've watched shows it's there at times. We kow what Decastro is(pro bowl) Ta'amu looked quick off the snap and more often than not moved the pile forward even when standing his ground(if that makes sense), if he gets in better condition would be a steal in the 4th, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibilities for at least 7 of the 9 to be on the 53 man roster.
