Papa, WT, and all, it is so good to see interest in the thread picking up.  All your requests are lifted up and remembered.

Tony, Gary, Jack- glad to hear from you and have a blessed Easter.

Sis, that is a wonderful answer to our prayers for your Mom.  How exciting for her to be up and about.  I hope her spirit is refreshed and she can do the by-pass, but that will be between her and the Lord.  It must be such a relief!

Prayers

April 7, 2012 2:40 pm

Greetings to all and welcome!  A very blessed Easter to one and all!  Praise His name for HE IS RISEN!

Great to see all the praises here.  It has been a bit strange in our house after 14 months of doing everything for Mom, now I have to get used to letting her do things on her own.  We did her driving lessons and she's driving alone (yes, when you get old enough, the roles reverse--"where's Mom with the car? why isn't she home yet?" etc. lol)  She's doing well and we will give it a week or so before we approach the discussion of the next set of medical decisions.  I still wash and moisturize her legs every night so I can keep an eye out for new ulcers but she's doing great!

Many thanks to all of you, my wonderful friends!  Your prayers and support have and do mean so much!

God's richest blessings to all of you this Easter season and all year long!

Prayers

April 9, 2012 9:32 am

I hope everyone had a blessed Easter.

I am so grateful that the Lord has forgiven someone such as I, that I almost hesitate to make a request- it sounds like a petty complaint.  I have had some issues with a fellow teacher- this teacher is in my building this year for the first time.  I knew this individual ten years ago, and she is a chronic gossip and mischief maker.  She pretends/attempts to act like a friend, shares personnal details of her life, then goes off and tells stuff- some partially true, some made up, or exaggerated to cause embarrassment.

She told me some stuff about her first divorce (to a guy I knew) and a recent second divorce (common law shackup) during the course of what was supposed to be a professional conference.  Then she runs around telling people I make her uncomfortable by discussing personnel issues.  The only thing I said was- referring to my son and grandson's picture on my computer background- that my kids are my world and take precedent over personnel happiness.  How that compares to dirty laundry like divorces and shackups, I'll never understand, but that's the world we live in.  Well, I need prayer for wisdom to know how to deal with this person without dragging my reputation through the mud.  It just makes you feel dirty to have to deal with this stuff.

I just don't want to ruin my reputation and working relationships with staff.

Prayers

April 9, 2012 12:34 pm

Hello to All!

Praise - Fantastic Easter from the worship, food, fellowship and even the weather cooperated.  I also celebrate the praises mentioned above and I am very grateful for the blessing that flow from God.

Prayer - Today I will take up Greg's request and pray for wisdom but to be honest that is such a great idea I am going to pray for all of us to have wisdom on God's plan for each of us.  I also will lift up the other requests and will pray for this thread and its power to reach and connect those in Christ.

Have a Blessed Day to All!

Prayers

April 9, 2012 1:59 pm

I join with Wild Turkey in prayer for wisdom for Greg and for each of us on the thread.  With wide-ranging values and rapidly changing standards for the people around us, it is easy to say something harmless and still have it made to sound harmful.  Our nation has become so divided that simple greetings can be miscontrued as slights or harrassment or hidden meanings.  It is unfortunate that the 'political correctness police' have endorsed such an environment of speech so that we are uncomfortable in casual conversations with people we know and people who know us well enough to know when harm or insult or gossip or lies are not part of our intent.  Gossip is certainly not new--

Proverbs 20:19 - A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man who talks too much.

Proverbs 16:28 - A perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends.

Lord, help us to discern the intentions of those we encounter in conversation.  Keep our speech free from what offends you and convict us when our speech offends others inappropriately.  As Your word says, "As much as depends on you, be at peace with all people."  We realize we cannot control the acts and intentions of others and that there are some who seek mischief.  Help us stand strong on Your teachings and guide our words and deeds so as to glorify You; impart wisdom to us on our words and deeds in response to those around us so that we may speak the truth in love and know when to walk away from some interactions.  Your word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path,  Father, so keep us on Your path and we will give You all the glory, in Jesus' name, Amen

Praise - It looks like we are on the tail end of the big pollen release here in the south so soon we will all be able to breathe again!

Prayer - Once again I want to lift up the prayer requests on this tread from giving us all wisdom as how to implement God's plan into our lives to the sick and ailing that need a comforting and healing touch.  I pray that all have a wonderful day and that you feel his presence in your lives and those of your family and friends.

Prayers

April 11, 2012 9:51 am

Lord I am praying for all the needs on this thread! In Jesus name.

Hey guys, please pray that the University of Arkansas will find a good replacement for Football coach Bobby Petrino. Also, if you can agree with me in prayer that God can turn something good out of all of this mess. I am praying for his wife and kids and of  course for Coach P. If he never coaches again if he can come to find the Lord and gain Salvation then all of this will be worth it.

Prayers

April 11, 2012 12:30 pm

Gary, I will stand with you in prayer.  I've been in the position of Mrs. Patrino so I know how this hurts a family.

I had this as my morning devotion and thought it appropriate here:

"When Thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, Thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity."
Psalm 39:11

Everyone needs to be reminded he or she is not better than anyone else every now and then. Conceit is a killing vice in the Christian life. God created us all as equals. His image rests equally with every human being. Sometimes God needs to bring us back to earth when we get too puffed up. Those who exalt themselves will be humbled, while those who humble themselves will be exalted.

O Lord, do not let me think too much of myself. When I turn my attention inward, I lose sight of who You want me to be. Let me be honest and open with myself, and help me to find new ways to grow for the glory of Your name. Keep me humble and ever steadfast in my walk with You, keeping my eye on heaven and not on this world.  Amen.

Consider it done and I think some good is already coming from it although it is still painful:

1.  University of Arkansas has shown the world that etics and moral values are more important to them than wins in an athletic arena.  Hopefully others will follow this positive example.

2.  Lessons in Humility are hard to go through but in the end they make us stronger.  This is one of the main reasons I jog everytime I go out it is a stark reminder that without God I am nothing.

3.  I am sure that many have followed this story, that we will never hear about, and have altered their own behavior patterns.

A special prayer goes out that positive results will continue to flow for this incident and that in time all will heal physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
