Video: Tiger did not like those book questions

Tiger Woods had his usual timid press conference on Wednesday at PGA National, and while it had the bland answers Woods usually gives reporters, it did have a surprise moment when Tiger lost his cool.

Asked by Alex Miceli about the recent excerpts from Hank Haney's tell-all book about Woods, Tiger said he wasn't going to answer anymore questions and actually broke his cool for a moment. The video is below, so watch it for yourself, but you can obviously tell Tiger isn't a big fan of this upcoming book and might even hate questions about the book more.

I am not a big Tiger Woods fan to start with and don't agree with his choices off of the links, but the man is only human.  He continues, however,  to push people away with his behavior.  I only wonder if he was still winning and dominating the tour, if he would be less of a jerk to the media.  He didn't mind all of the media when it was all positive and helped him grow his brand to highest level.  Now, he seems to only want to answer the questions from the media that continues to stay in his corner.  You can't have it both ways.  He isn't perfect but how many psses does he get?

I don't understand what the big deal is about him wanting to be a Navy SEAL? What male in the US that had/has dreams of being a hero wouldn't want to be a Navy SEAL?

I agree with the earlier post about being an opp to honor our Navy SEALS with him making a simple comment of "yeah who wouldn't want to be a Navy SEAL?"

Making a big deal out of something that isn't.

Tiger: When are you going to thicken your skin?

Tiger,

Some free advice, the secret to dealing with any tell all book is to laugh it off.  The example snippet about becoming a SEAL is a golden opportunity to laugh it off, make a comment about the incredible men who become SEALs and how you have nothing but respect for their discipline and drive, talk about using a similar discipline and drive in your golf game and then wax nostalgic about you fathers service to the country and stop there.  You have made Haney look a fool in the process.

You can marginalize this book simply by sewing the seeds of greed, self promotion, and cashing in on the salacious rumors of your personal life.  The more you bristle, however, the more I believe Haney is truthful.

You need to hire a PR firm to handle your way through this minefield and if you do it successfully you will come out on top.

My two cents.

And the very next day, LannyH writes "Best. Story. Ever." in response to a story in praise of his new man crush. Isn't it sweet, this fancy for the cut of a younger man's jib? We get it, Lanny, we get it. You just don't like the dark meat. To each his own.

Stripelover....they disconnected the video link before I could see it, but without seeing it I think you are right on in your assessment.  There are ways to be prepared for things like debates and interviews, and while I can't judge it against what Tiger actually said, your response would have been a good one, classy and well thought out.

Tiger is just frustrated and tired of the paparrazi golf writers. If a football player or coach acts that way then union or the team executives make the person appologize. Jack or Arnold should call him and tell him to grow up.

Surprised Tiger wasn't prepared for the question ... a better prepared Tiger would've said "I'm guessing you're referring to something in Haney's book?  Well, I didn't write the book. I haven't read the book.  If you want to know something about the book, go ask the author.  He should be the expert on contents of his own book."
