Who says the second half of the 2008 season was a washout for Lorena Ochoa, the No. 1 female player in the world?
According to the Mexican version of People magazine, Ochoa in December accepted the marriage proposal of a millionaire businessman who runs one of North America’s biggest airlines, Aeromexico.
Ochoa has been linked to Andres Conesa Lambastida for several months, although the relationmship has raised a few eyebrows. He is a divorced father of three and is 13 years older than the long-hitting LPGA star, the tour's reigning player of the year.
In Mexican circles, Lambastida is a major power player, too. He has a PhD in economics from MIT, is a former Fulbright Scholar and has served as a presidential adviser in Mexico. Hey, maybe this dude will run the LPGA someday, when he gets bored.
She is 26, he is 39. Mexico’s Quien magazine reported that they plan to marry later this year.
