How to play:

It's simple, really. Look at the sports-related pictures above, and give us your funniest caption for any or all of them. You can write as many captions for each as you would like.

The challenge runs daily, Monday-Thursday. Each day's competition will usually be posted by noon ET, and will usually end around 11 p.m. ET. On Monday and Wednesday, Community member ktopp24 will be the judge. On Tuesday and Thursday, I'll run the show. If one of the judges decide that your caption is the funniest or most clever submitted for that picture, it will be declared a winner.

Winning captions will be announced when that day's challenge ends. There will be one winner for each picture, and also one winner for the person who can string together the 5 best captions all with the same theme.

You will be awarded one point for each winning caption that you post. You will see a running tally on the scoreboard, which will be posted at the beginning and end of each day. At the end of each month a champion is declared, and we shower that user in praise and adulation! We add his screenname to the Wall-O-Fame, and then we start everyone's score back at zero.

I just saw what's going on and I have to say I'm sad to see it go.  Even if it's just for a while.  I had to take a time out myself from time to time due to my screwy life interfering(!) but I always enjoyed coming back to play and even if it was just to read other people's captions and even if I didn't compete all month.  It was still fun.

Thanks "Joe" for the opportunity and thanks to everyone else who participated and kept this thing going.  And a special thanks to all those who were able to rib each other mercilessly and not take it personal.  That made it all the more fun!

Take it easy and here's hoping to see y'all in the future.

Good decision Joe and thanks for all the fun.  Sometimes you just got to do what you got to do.  Look forward to the contest's return whrn you can give it the time necessary.

Somehow, I have the feeling there will lots of pent up sarcasm and wisecracks pent up and ready to explode inside a few of us.  Doing the captions was always good therapy.

Thanks to everyone who participated.  Loved all the entries.  See you guys around the boards.

Want to do more but I have to get off the company computer now.  Something about having to work.  Sheeesh!

But remember the answer to the trivia question....And the answer is.....Who won the last title in Shuless Joe's Photo Caption Contest?  <buzz>  Who is River Rat Alex. again
Joe didn't say it was gonna be the "LAST" one ever, just the last one for now. Him and I have been PM-ing back and forth for the last few days trying to figure out what to do and this seemed to be the only option for both of us. He's got a ton more opbilgations here at CBS and I've got my kids that keep me busy pretty much full time (FYI...they're the reason I never could score until the next morning). And with my daughter moving up a level in her gymnastics, we will be traveling more. And my son's baseball season will be kicking off very soon, so I'll be stepping back into my coaching shoes pretty quickly here.

Say its Not so JOE!!!!  Thanks so much for all of the fun Joe.  It will be tough trying to figure out what to do with my lunch hour now. lol  I have had a blast making, as well as reading all the great captions thru the years.  I think I only snorted Pepsi out of my nose twice, a few other close calls though.  I've also made many great cyber friends here, not just Joe, but Buc, D2, Kmvenne, just to mention a few ........oh yeah, Ktopp too. Wink

Enjoy your new found freedom Joe, and not if, but when you get bored, throw us a bone to put our stale wits to work again on more fart jokes than you can shake a stick at.  This comes at an awkward time for a couple of guys, I would have laid money that the March 2011 title was going to be hotly contested between Teets, Zack, Bluenose and BuubaJ.  But remember the answer to the trivia question....And the answer is.....Who won the last title in Shuless Joe's Photo Caption Contest?  <buzz>  Who is River Rat Alex. again.

I too would like to extend my sincere thanks to all of you guys. You made the "daily grind" of my life a little better every day when I got to read all your captions. Even though I haven't been able to score a whole lot of points over that past year, it was a pleasure to help you guys get them next to your screen names.

And most people forget that I was a player in this for a year before I was a judge. I used to be right down there in the trenches with you. I can truly say that it was fun while it lasted. I hope all of you will not become strangers to any of us. Buc, you need to start up your "10 things" blog again and continue your "Worst songs" one, I certainly enjoyed reading both of those.

I have started up my my "Conpletely Random thoughts" blog again if any of you care to stop by.

And I also want to highlight Buc's comment about adding Joe to your favorites. Please also add all of us if you haven't done so. I would be happy to converse with you on a continued basis.

It's been real, it's been fun, but don't call me late for dinner......I mean, but you can't pick your friends nose......oh whatever, you know what I mean.

Keep in touch Joe!!!

And to (relatively) new guys like Bubba J and Zackcago, I would encourage you to fav Joe if you haven't (and can, stupid cbs) so you'll know when he does chime in and that way you can continue to be a part of the festivities.
I would encourage you all to favorite me, as well. Just for the growth of my ego.
